]]>Here at LifeSafe, we often get sent some stories that really affect us. The one below shows how the StaySafe 5-in-1 managed to save a woman and her family from potential distaster just by acting quickly and efficiently.
"The boiler short circuited and set alight the casing around it. The fire alarm went off and we always have an extinguisher at the top of the stairs (as well as elsewhere in key places). My Mum rushed upstairs and fought the fire while I called 999. There were a lot of objects immediately in front of the airing cupboard so once the fire was at a smoulder, Mum and I threw them out of the way to provide quick and easy access for the firefighters that were on the way, then exited the house to wait for them.
The whole thing took about 10 minutes. I must highlight here that this was only safe to do so because there was, by that time, less smoke than if Mum hadn't used the extinguisher. The firemen assessed the situation, further dowsed the fire and told mum she did 100% the right thing in every case, but that if she hadn't have phoned them the fire would have reignited.
She was told it was her actions that saved the house. We have original floorboards and wooden furniture so if we had just phoned them the fire would have spread quickly."

Sometimes, half-truths get passed around so much they become facts- such as consuming carrots granting night-vision, or toads causing warts.
While this might be fine for amusing anecdotes like those, when it comes to health and safety, you don’t need anecdotal advice.
The short answer is yes and no. Don’t worry, though, LifeSafe Technologies, experts in fire safety, are on hand to give you the full lowdown.
Technically, salt can be used to put out grease fires. However, there is a myriad of caveats to this, the first being that this only works on small fires. You need a huge amount of salt for it to be effective, more than you could practically carry and dispense quickly enough.
Baking soda may also help to smother a growing fire before it gets out of control. You have to be careful though, as using the wrong powder can be disastrous. If you accidentally use baking powder or flour, you’ll end up making it much worse.
If the fire is already self-contained, then this might be a viable method of dealing with it. Why take the risk though?
While this could save a bit of money, fire safety isn’t something you should scrimp on, especially if the alternative has no basis in scientific fact.
Whenever there’s a dangerous fire, the first thing you should do is ring the emergency services. However, if it’s small enough to handle yourself, don’t go for the nearest salt-shaker.
The truth is, salt isn’t exactly the most effective solution when it comes to fires.
The only reason you would seriously attempt this is because of the lack of portable extinguishing solutions available.
Now, there is a better way to deal with the problem; StaySafe 5-in-1 Fire Extinguisher. It is the UK’s smallest aerosol extinguisher, weighing just 200ml, and contains no mechanical parts.
This makes it highly portable, so you never have to worry about carrying a heavy piece of equipment around.
StaySafe 5-in-1 uses LifeSafe's patented formula, which leaves zero toxic residues behind, making it the eco-friendliest option out there.

]]>The age-old question, when is it truly OK for your teenager to have some independence? Teenage years are tricky, we understand as we’ve all been through them…
First things first, can you cast your mind back to when you were a teenager? The most important thing in the world for you is a little bit of trust from your parents. You’re so full of angst and hormones that anything and everything can seem like an inconvenience. This makes it even harder to know when the right time is. The cut a long story short, there is no official age when it’s appropriate it depends on the situation.
The British charity NSPCC recommend that “children under 12 are rarely mature enough to cope in an emergency and should not be left alone for a long period of time. Children under the age of 16 should not be left alone overnight.”
If you are going to leave your teenager at home, why not make sure they have all the necessary safety precautions. You will have more piece of mind knowing that you’ve kept them safe, even at arm’s length.
If you choose to allow your child to use cooking equipment when home alone, it’s a good idea to have a fire extinguisher nearby.
The StaySafe 5-in-1 is small but mighty at fighting 5 different types of fires, and extinguishes them in seconds!
Its plastic bottle and lid make it lightweight and extremely easy to use, with less mess. Plus, it’s non-toxic and eco-friendly.

Your teenager may already have this but it’s important that they have not only your number, but perhaps the number of the place you’re going or another emergency contact number if they can’t get hold of you. It’s also a good idea that they know Emergency services number (911) and what to do when they get through to them.
A portable flashlight is useful if you suddenly get a power outage. With this in mind, it’s also really helpful if your teen knows where the switchboard is and how to use it in case you do have a power cut, same with the water meter if you have one.
A doorbell with camera helps your teenagers know when someone is at the door and whether it is safe enough to answer. They can connect to your phone so are easy to set up. Your teenager can keep themselves safe, but you can keep an eye on the front door too.
If you’re planning on leaving your teenager, basic first aid would be useful for them to know. Making sure you also have a first aid kit handy so they can treat small accidents and stop them turning into something bigger.

Pizza parties, cold drinks, fairy lights and friends are the best way to celebrate an occasion. Nowadays, traditional Grill's are being replaced with compact garden pizza ovens for a taste of Italy.
If you are considering buying one of these pizza ovens, you need to make sure you have the right safety equipment close-by and knowledge, just in case things get out of hand.
This is probably the most important part, make sure you read the instructions as this could be huge safety hazard if it has not been installed correctly. If it starts to fall apart, you may have ash going everywhere which can set things on fire really easily
If it so happens that you do have a fire accident, you need to be able to put it out as soon as possible. They StaySafe is really easy to use and can put a fire out in seconds. It puts out five different types of fires and is ideal for keeping near your pizza oven.
Use these even when you think your pizza oven has cooled down, you don’t want unexpected burns to go with your new Summer tan!
Make sure to clean your Pizza oven thoroughly before each use. This is not only good for hygiene reasons, but also small parts of leftover dough can catch fire and be a hazard. If you’re emptying ashes, make sure they have completely cooled down beforehand.
Finally, if your pizza oven uses gas, make sure it’s turned off when you come to finish using it. Have a look at the gas hose too to make sure there is no damage, if there is, replace immediately.
We hope you have a safe and fun pizza party!
]]>We got this message through our social media about how Niall and Daniel saved a client's house from being burned down with the StaySafe 5-in-1 Fire Extinguisher. We hope you never have to use it, but it's good to know that it's there, just in case...
“We were carrying out a gas safety inspection at a property, we asked the customer if it was okay to light the fire up to test and they agreed. The fire was lit and we left the room to light other appliances, when we returned the room was full of smoke and the chimney had flames up inside. I immediately isolated the gas supply to the fire and could then see a material hand towel had been tucked up inside the chimney opening, the customer later said this was to stop draughts and they had forgotten they had put it there.
I got the all-purpose StaySafe 5-in-1 fire extinguisher from my tool bag, the flames were getting worse due to the draw of air up the chimney providing them with a constant flow of oxygen. I released the whole contents of the extinguisher on to the fire which put it out and stopped any further damage.”

Charlotte showed us her grill after the fire had been put out with the StaySafe 5-in-1 ^
...It’s not like the traditional ones with the hose which is complicated, I didn’t even read the instructions! I wiped away the residue with hot soapy water and carried on using it, good as new!
I'm trying to share it as much on my social media accounts as I can, I've told people at work (I’m a nurse) and my parents about it as well. My husband has also put one in the back of his truck too, it’s a life saver!”
